Physiotherapy · Kumbakonam

Older adult care.
Everyday independence.

Supportive rehabilitation centred on the activities that matter to you.

Getting up from a chair, walking to the gate or feeling steadier in the bathroom can make a difference to the day. We assess your health and movement, then plan practical steps with you and, if you wish, your family.

Understanding your needs

Confidence in familiar routines.

Age alone does not decide what you can do. Health conditions, recent illness, medicines and the support around you all shape a suitable plan.

Balance and falls concerns

A fall, near miss or fear of falling can make moving around feel less secure.

Our focusAssess balance, walking and strength, with medical review for possible causes such as dizziness or medicine effects.

Strength and stamina

Illness or a less active period can make household tasks and short walks more tiring.

Our focusChoose manageable exercise and rest, building capacity according to your health and response.

Walking and transfers

Moving from bed to chair, using a walking aid or negotiating a step may need practice or assistance.

Our focusWork on the tasks you use each day and assess safe support or equipment.

Joint pain and stiffness

Pain can limit dressing, standing and sleep. A new painful or swollen joint needs assessment rather than being dismissed as age-related.

Our focusAdapt movement and activity, with referral for medical investigation when appropriate.

Recovery after hospital care

After surgery or illness, your discharge advice and current medical stability guide rehabilitation.

Our focusRebuild daily routines while respecting weight-bearing, wound and other medical restrictions.

Family and home support

Lighting, footwear, clutter and the way help is given can affect safety at home.

Our focusDiscuss practical changes, caregiver guidance and whether other services or a home visit would be appropriate.

Your assessment and care

Start with what matters today.

Independence can include using an aid or asking for help. The goal is safer, more comfortable participation in your own routines.

  1. Review health and priorities

Discuss recent falls, dizziness, pain, fatigue, medicines and everyday tasks. Bring discharge papers and your usual walking aid.

  2. Assess movement safely

Check suitable aspects of balance, strength, walking and transfers, using support when needed. Do not attempt unsafe balance challenges alone.

  3. Practise useful tasks

Agree an individual mix of strength, balance and movement practice. The starting level may be seated or supported standing.

  4. Adapt the plan and support

Review how you manage between appointments. With your agreement, involve family and discuss medical, vision, hearing or equipment review where relevant.

Physiotherapy is one part of falls prevention. It does not replace a doctor’s review of fainting, medicine effects, bone health or unexplained changes in function.

Before your visit

A little clarity.
Less uncertainty.

Am I too old to benefit from exercise?

Your health and abilities matter more than age alone. An assessment helps choose an achievable starting point and goals. Exercise can be adapted, including seated or supported activities where appropriate.

Should I stop using my walking stick?

Do not stop using a prescribed aid just to try to become independent. We can review its fit and how you use it. The safest choice depends on balance, strength and your surroundings.

Can family attend?

A family member or caregiver can join with your agreement. They can help explain routines and learn appropriate assistance, while your preferences remain central to the plan.

Are home visits available?

Home visits in and around Kumbakonam are subject to availability. Call to discuss your location, mobility and assistance needs before making arrangements.

Will rehabilitation prevent every fall?

No. Falls have many causes, and no programme can remove all risk. Strength and balance work may form part of a broader plan involving medical review, suitable aids and home changes.
