Personalised neurological physiotherapy, beginning with what matters to you.
Getting out of bed. Sitting with family. Moving around with more confidence. After a stroke or with a neurological condition, we work with you and your caregivers towards meaningful, realistic goals.

Understanding your needs
Different conditions. Personal goals.
Rehabilitation may help improve, maintain or adapt movement. Your diagnosis, medical stability and everyday priorities guide the plan.
01
Stroke and one-sided weakness
After a stroke, weakness, altered sensation or muscle stiffness can make reaching, sitting and walking difficult.
Our focusPractise useful tasks at a safe level, with goals such as moving in bed, getting up from a chair or using the affected arm.
02
Spinal cord injury and paralysis
Paraplegia affects the legs; tetraplegia (quadriplegia) affects the arms and legs. The level and extent of injury shape rehabilitation needs.
Our focusWork within your specialist team’s advice on positioning, joint movement, sitting balance and transfers. Wheelchair skills and assistance may remain essential.
03
Parkinson’s disease and Parkinsonism
Slower movement, stiffness, small steps or freezing can interrupt everyday routines. Parkinsonism describes a group of movement symptoms with different possible causes.
Our focusChoose movement practice, balance work and walking strategies around your abilities, fatigue and medication routine, alongside neurological care.
04
Motor neurone disease (MND / ALS)
Progressive weakness can change how you move, rest and manage daily tasks. Rehabilitation aims to support comfort and function as needs change.
Our focusUse comfortable movement, pacing, positioning and caregiver guidance without overexertion. Breathing and swallowing concerns need the specialist team.
05
Balance, dizziness and unsteadiness
Unsteadiness may have several causes, including inner-ear conditions, changes in sensation or medication effects. Dizziness needs assessment before exercise.
Our focusAssess balance and fall risk, and discuss appropriate medical review. Vestibular exercises are only suitable when the cause and assessment support them.
06
Daily life and family support
A meaningful goal may be sitting with family, transferring more safely, reaching for a cup or taking part in an outing.
Our focusAgree practical goals with you and your caregiver, then review the help, equipment and practice needed. Walking independently is not the only measure of progress.
Assessment to daily life
Start where you are. Build from there.
Care progresses according to safety and ability. Standing or walking is considered only when appropriate; independence can also involve aids, adaptations and support.
01
Begin with an in-person assessment
We listen to your priorities and review your diagnosis, discharge advice and medical history. Assessment may include strength, sensation, muscle stiffness, balance, fatigue and the help you need for everyday movement.
02
Build the foundations
Choose a safe starting point: positioning, moving in bed, sitting balance or transfers between surfaces. Families can learn appropriate assistance with your consent; avoid pulling on a weak arm or practising unsupported transfers.
03
Practise purposeful movement
Repeat tasks that matter to you, at a manageable level. This may involve reaching, standing or supported walking when suitable. Hands-on guidance can support practice; a named technique or machine is not a routine requirement.
04
Plan for life beyond appointments
Review progress and adapt practice to your home and community goals. That may mean a family meal, an outdoor trip or using a wheelchair with more confidence. The setting and pace should suit your health, preferences and support.
Physiotherapy is one part of neurological care. Continue follow-up with your treating doctor; speech, swallowing, breathing, self-care or equipment needs may require other specialist services.

We explain your plan, welcome questions and review how treatment is helping you function in daily life.
The treating stroke team decides when activity is safe and how much is appropriate. Rehabilitation can begin in hospital once your condition permits, then continue after discharge. There is no single day-one or day-two exercise plan suitable for everyone.
Can rehabilitation help months or years after a stroke?+
An assessment can identify goals even later on, such as safer transfers, better use of an arm or more manageable daily activities. Benefits and the pace of change vary; full recovery or a return to independent walking cannot be promised.
Do I have to move from home visits to clinic care?+
No. Home visits in and around Kumbakonam are subject to availability. The suitable setting depends on your health, goals, transport and support. Clinic visits may offer a change of setting and opportunities to practise; home care can remain appropriate. Call to discuss access and assistance before travelling.
Does physiotherapy cure Parkinson’s disease or MND?+
No. Physiotherapy supports movement, comfort and day-to-day function alongside medical care. Goals are reviewed as the condition changes, with pacing and practical support tailored to your needs.
What should we bring to the first appointment?+
Bring discharge summaries, relevant scan reports, a current medication list and the walking aids, splints or braces you use. Wear comfortable clothing. A family member or caregiver can join you, with your agreement, to discuss assistance and home routines.
How many sessions will I need?+
This depends on your condition, abilities, goals and response to rehabilitation. We agree a starting plan after assessment and review it with you. Some people need ongoing support; there is no fixed session count or guaranteed recovery deadline.
